Our History

Kirjathjearim Lodge #104 was a member of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge AF&AM State of Tenn. in the year 1870. In later years, the Grand Lodge changed its name to the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge F&AM State of Tenn.

In 1960, several established members of Kirjathjearim Lodge #104 left the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge F&AM and affiliate with the newly formed Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Tenn. The Grand Master Ill. Edward E. Crawford, 33° presided. In December 2009, the Grand Lodge was renamed the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge State of Tenn. Ancient Free and Accepted Mason, AF&AM.

Upon joining the new Grand Lodge, Kirjathjearim Lodge #104 changed its number to #4. The First Worshipful Master was Ill. William E. Woods, 33° (1961-1962). Bro. James H. Sherrell was a member in 1960 and still maintain his membership to this day.

Kirjathjearim Lodge #4 continued to grow. We had three Past Grand Masters; Ill. Charles Morgan,33°, Ill James Turner,32° and Ill Theodore B. Hughes, Sr. 33°. Several of the members held elected Grand Office. Past Grand Master Ill. James Turner, 32° was Grand Secretary. Honorary Past Grand Master William I.G. Sowell, 32° was Grand Treasurer.
